Hi lovely brides-to-be, wedding vendors and followers!
I wanted to share a gorgeous wedding with you of my couture bridal client Philippa and her husband Sean who were married in Brisbane. Philippa is one of my interstate clients who flew down to Sydney for wedding gown fittings – making it an extra special adventure & bridal experience for her!
Philippa wore a luxurious silk satin wedding gown with French leavers lace. The gown had a Chinese rink collar and the back of the gown also featured a keyhole back with an alluring low back wedding gown look.
The wedding gown also featured cap sleeves in the delicate French leavers lace. – Leavers lace has a scalloped eyelash edge like it’s famous counterpart Chantilly lace, however the difference is Leavers lace has a slightly more defined texture and outline of the design than Chantilly lace.
I have to say a HUGE thank you to Angie Branch Photography www.angiebranch.com.au for these wedding images. Angie is a Brisbane based photographer and I just love how she captured the magnificent and also the intimate moments of Philippa and Sean’s wedding. Angie’s photography style is very romantic and classic as you can see from these images.
The hem of Philippa’s silk couture bridal gown featured a lace scallop trim which was delicately hand stitched the full way around the skirt. I designed a low keyhole back for Philippa’s gown because it showed off her figure but created a modest and classic look framing her back in an unusual way from the other popular low back wedding dress styles.
Philippa’s wedding dress (like all my couture wedding gowns) featured fabric covered buttons down the back and also on the back collar.
Philippa & Sean were married in St Alban Chapel at The Southport School in Brisbane. Sean is an old boy from The Southport School, so it was very sentimental to him & his family to be married there. It was very special that Philippa and Sean planned these key aspects of their wedding together, incorporating things that were important to each of them.
I designed Philippa’s wedding gown uniquely for her after much discussion about her wedding venue, reception location and the theme and feel she wanted to create for her wedding. I did a range of sketches for her and we refined it to the perfect design. We were both so excited when I emailed (interstate client) Philippa her final design and she knew it was “The One.” Philippa was 100% confident when she saw the finished illustration and we were excited to get started on fittings and bringing the design to life! I’ll share the original sketch in a future blog post soon! :)
Philippa & Sean had their wedding reception at The Grange at the Hyatt Sanctuary Cove. It’s a beautiful location with French doors overlooking a green lawn & a luxuriously spacious dance floor.
Philippa wanted a gown that she could dance in as she and Sean planned to dance the night away doing salsa & ceroc, so we opted to create TWO wedding dresses! Below is the short gown Philippa wore for her wedding reception! A white smooth silk dupion gown with corded French lace beaded with tiny white pearls – and of course my signature fabric covered buttons!
Philippa’s “Reception Wedding Gown” as I like to call it was just above the knee with a box pleat skirt. There were lots of pretty pearls on the lace that I beaded by hand to give it sparkle and the silk dupion had a taffeta feel about it because it was so smooth, it’s a gorgeous quality fabric to work with that I have available in a range of shades from silk white, ivory, oyster, antique beige, pale rose pink etc.
I hope you love these divine, classic and timeless images by Angie Branch Photography. This is Angie’s photography website link again if you would like to have a look at more of her work: www.angiebranch.com.au
